Accomplishments

Shark protest participants Helen Searing, Bob Silverstone, Sally McGraw, Bill Crain, Ellen Crain, Susan DiRaimo, Ellia Rangel, and Maria DiRaimo

• Commissioned the first ever count of East Hampton’s deer, one of the few deer counts in New York State history, in March and April, 2006
• Co-sponsored with the Humane Society of the United States two protests of Montauk shark tournaments in July and August, 2006
• Joined the Biteback Coalition to ban trapping on East Hampton town land
• Prepared and published in The Star a list of deer resistant plants for East End gardens
• Sponsored lectures by immunocontraception expert Dr. Irwin Liu of the University of California and wildlife biologist and population expert Frank Verret to pave the way for a pilot contraception project
